Ceilidh Market in Port Hawkesbury

Come to the Civic Centre in Port Hawkesbury to check out some amazing vendors who locally grow, make, and bake their own little pieces of Cape Breton Island. This is truly the best way to sample our unique culture with music, food, crafts, talent, and art! Markets take place every Thursday from 11AM-2PM beginning July 4th until October 10th. Port Hastings Museum

You will see the Port Hastings Museum on the hill as you drive off of the Canso Causeway and enter the Port Hastings rotary. It is the Port Hasting Museum's mandate to collect, preserve, study, exhibit and interpret in an interesting way those objects; including books, papers, manuscripts, drawings, maps, pictures, paintings, etc. that will best serve to illustrate the founding, settlement and development of the Strait of Canso Communities

Port Hawkesbury Boat Park

The Port Hawkesbury Boat Park is located directly in our Waterfront Area. Our Waterfront location entrance can be found at Granville Street and MacSween Street. This is a fenced-in park with a beautiful view of our waterfront. Play on our Pirate Ship and pretend you are on the high seas! This park was revitalized the summer of 2013 by a group of community volunteers in partnership with the Town of Port Hawkesbury.

All are welcome, come stay and play!!!

Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre

The Port Hawkesbury Civic Center is located in the Commercial Core of Town on Reeves Street.

The Civic Center has a YMCA, Art Gallery, Squash Courts,World-class Rink, Meeting Spaces, Municipal Offices, and more.

Port Hawkesbury Community Park

The Port Hawkesbury Community Park was built September 2013 in a one-day "Barn-raising" fashion, in partnership with the Port Hawkesbury Community Park Committee, Let them Be Kids organization, Town of Port Hawkesbury, and the many businesses, industries, and community members. Visit this new park located at MacQuarrie Drive Extension (located next to the Dan Willie MacDonald Memorial Ball field; behind the Causeway Shopping Center, across from the Port Hawkesbury Curling Club).

This is our park built with many hands - and we are very proud of what we can accomplish as a community when we do it together!!!

The Splash Pad is Now Complete! As well as a new all-sports court and the change rooms.

Future park development includes: a skate park, a dog park, and a walking path.

This Community Park is free to use, all visitors are welcome.

Port Hawkesbury Community Trails

Come and explore a 10-kilometre system of trails that takes you through a spectacular tapestry of rolling terrain, hardwood and softwood forrests plus gently flowing brooks and streams

Conveniently located in the Town of Port Hawkesbury, this wonderful system of all-season trails will appeal to both the avid and casual hiker. Discover a wide variety of plants and wildlife as the 10-kilometre trail system winds its way through majestic hardwood stands, softwood forests and along gently flowing brooks and streams. A series of rest areas inviting you to stop and enjoy the surrounding scenery can be found throughout the trail.

Parking is located at Grant’s Pond, Crandall Road and the Recreations Grounds. Look for the trail signs at these entry points—with helpful orientation signage featured along the trail system.

The Port Hawkesbury Trail System provides a tremendous year-round experience for walkers, hikers, and cross-country skiers. Dogs are welcome but must be leashed within 200 metres of the entrance/exit areas.

Please note that the trails are unsupervised and the Town of Port Hawkesbury assumes no responsibility for the safety of trail users.
